Nancy
I grew up in Alabama, then joined the Air Force after my first year of college. Eventually, after marriage and two kids, I went back to college and got my degree. I began working for the State of California and joined the Air Force Reserve. I retired from both. Without the AF, I would probably still be in Alabama. Thanks to the military, I've traveled a lot and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Mike and I were married in 1999 and bought the Riverside Inn in Downieville. Together we have 5 kids and 10 grandkids. Holidays are a bit noisy and crowded, but fun.
I also work for the local newspaper three days a week--The Mountain Messenger, the oldest weekly newspaper in California. Mark Twain worked there briefly when he was on the lam from the law in Nevada Territory.
One of these days, I would like to do more traveling--some of it on the Harley

I tell Nancy that I was "born in East LA". Not that I was, I was born in Glendale, California. When I was very young we moved to the home my father and uncle built in Monterey Park. I know, that's not East LA either, but they connect somewhere around the Pomona Freeway.
I attended High school in Pasadena after another move. After graduation I joined the Air Force and went to work on a spy plane called the SR71 Blackbird and was stationed at Beale AFB. So, I started a city kid and moved to Grass Valley before I was discharged at the end of the Viet Nam War. My major in college was electronic engineering. Besides working in electronics I also spent a couple of years on a CDF firefighting hand crew and have turned a few wrenches, too many. In 2001 Nancy and I decided to begin a new life and buy the Riverside Inn. Besides high technology I enjoy photography, fly fishing, and model trains. I've also got 5 or 6 bikes and still feel the need for a Beemer. " I know it's only rock n' roll, but I like it". I especially like Cuban Jazz and Irish whiskey, and Pavarotti and Italian food, and a good dog, a fly rod, and time in the woods. Nancy and I have been known to show up at a grand kid's birthday riding a Harley Davidson
